Joint Development Model

The customer asks us to only support and guide them through the first-time design and implementation process of the product, and assure the right fundamental design decisions are being made. For these customers we provide a ‘a la carte approach’ to only extend their knowledge and project team, and accelerate the learning curve of the different project team members. This approach consists of two services:

This option, also known as Jumpstart, consists of two services:

  • Accelerate and handover knowledge in the preparation, structure and functional design stages within the project.

  • Lead Development during the implementation phase

The goal of these services is to ensure a smooth implementation of the client’s websites and to ensure that the client’s infrastructure and web development team is able to realize future projects with a minimum of (or better, no) Amakozi PS involvement.

The blue blocks represent activities to be executed by the client, the orange dotted activities represent activities that are executed by the customer but are actively supported by our professionals.

Implementation Methodology
Below you will find the recommended elements of the Jumpstart package worked out in greater detail:

  • C1: Installation (and infrastructure) Services

The scope will depend on the license package selected by the client; based on the installation of all out-of-the-box and standard Tridion WCM functionality only (the installation of Content Centric Applications like Comm Stats, Webforms and Outbound email is not included), and assuming the client will take care for installation and configuration of all hardware and software related platform prerequisites, the costs for installation of the Tridion software is estimated on 1.5 to 2 days per server. Optionally and in extension of these installation services Amakozi PS is able to support the client in conducting a Infrastructure Scan to define upfront the way the Tridion Content Management and Deployment architecture can fit in the client’s current infrastructure, and align the setup with the client’s security and IT policies.

  • C2: Blueprint Workshop

A workshop with business, information architecture and IT representatives from the client in which Amakozi PS will explain the concepts of Blueprinting, present best practices and work together with the client to identify the requirements for a Blueprint Design and propose a blueprint design based upon these requirements. The Blueprint Workshop has an estimated effort of (x, dependent on scope) days including the delivery of a formal Blueprint Design document.

  • C3: Functional Design Lead

An Amakozi PS functional consultant will work with representative(s) from the client on the ‘translation’ of the website concept and corresponding wireframes into a design of the various elements of the Tridion implementation, like: Schema's, Page and Component Templates, Publishing model, Workflow, etc. Estimated effort for support of the client’s project team is estimated on (x, dependent on scope) days.

  • C4: Project Management

The client will do the overall project management themselves.

  • C5: Development Lead/Quality Assurance

Amakozi PS suggests providing a combined Lead Developer/Application Architect for guidance and quality assurance purposes during the Technical Design and the Build phase. The role of the Amakozi PS Application Architect will be to lead the development team consisting of the client’s system developers in the first stages of the project. At the end of the project the same Lead Developer in the role of Architect will conduct QA review activities. The Lead Developer will lead and plan the work, provide hands-on training of the developers, provide Q&A on the work done, realize parts of the development, etc also in the first half of the runtime of the project. Amakozi PS’s role will minimize on this area during the project after knowledge and technical best practices are handed over. The estimated costs will depend on the runtime of the build phase. In the current estimation we have estimated a total of (x, dependent on scope) weeks for the whole Build phase, with an involvement of approx. 50% during this process. The estimated effort is (x, dependent on scope). On request and based on the client’s actual demands this package can be extended or decreased to a minimum.

All estimations are based on the assumption that the client will execute the project with their own resources, and Amakozi PS has a accelerating, supportive, guidance and ‘expertise hand over’ role within this project. All estimations are indicative.

  • C6: Training

Training courses can be delivered as a package on a per target audience basis. Webmaster/Publisher Training (1 day)The selected training or program can be delivered to an audience of maximum 8-10 participants per track. These training programs can also be used as the basis for a train-the-trainer concept within the client. On-site Training courses are offered for a discounted fixed fee of ZAR 3600 per training-day (independent of the number of participants to a maximum of 8-10). There are no fees involved for preparation time or material shipment costs. Optionally, customers can also follow the official Discovery training presented by Tridion BV. This is at cost of 2800 euro per day, with a max of 8-10 plus overhead costs for the Tridion consultant to present the training (flight, etc).

  • C7: Migration scan

As the migration, clean up and transformation of the client’s current pages, content and/or structure is part of the implementation process, Amakozi PS is able to support the client in defining the right automated or manual migration strategy, and selecting the right tool. Based on the outcome of this scan Amakozi PS is prepared and able to define a customized migration proposal. The initial effort for a comprehensive migration scan is estimated on (x, dependent on scope) days.
